LOCATIONS

Matches will be played at Northern Colorado golf courses including the following; pending tee time availability:

Most courses have leagues already setup at them that run Monday through Thursday evenings leaving Friday as the best time for our league to meet. Courses will not allow for booking of rounds unless it is within 7-14 days ahead of expected playing date, depending on the course. For this reason, the match location will be dependent on tee time availability. League scheduler or commissioner will let players know ASAP the playing location once tee times are locked in.

TEE BOX SELECTION

Men will play from tee boxes with yardages as close as possible to 3200 yards per 9 holes. Women will play from tee boxes as close as possible to 2300 yards per 9 holes. Course slope will not be considered. Commissioner/scheduler will note tee boxes to be played from for each given match prior to match start.

LEAGUE CONSTRUCTION

The league will be divided into 4 divisions. Each division will comprise of 5 players. League schedule shall be setup to ensure all players play against everyone in there division once. Divisions and standings are found here.

LEAGUE RULES

MATCH SETUP

Players will be matched against another player in the league for each round. Players will compete in a MATCH play style format.

MATCH PLAY RULES

Players will compete to see who can win the most holes within a 9 hole round. Holes are won by shooting a lower HANDICAPPED score on each hole. 1 point is awarded for winning a hole and 0.5 points is awarded for ties.

A round is won by the person who wins 5 holes or greater in the 9 hole round. In the event of a 4.5-4.5 finish, the round will end in a draw.

HANDICAPS

To account for player skill differences and to maintain competitiveness, hole scores will be adjusted to account for players handicap. Hole handicaps will be assessed by taking the difference between the competitors 9 hole stroke handicaps. The higher handicap will receive 1 stroke reduction for each stroke of handicap difference spread out throughout all holes, starting with the hardest hole and working to easiest, based on stroke index. League statistician will calculate weekly scorecards prior to round start and distribute match scorecards with required information.

If players competed in the 2025 season, handicaps will be rolled forward into the 2026 season.

For new participants in 2026 season, handicap will be set via a pre-play round or pending review of historical tracked rounds (via Ghin App or 18Birdies).

Handicaps will continually be updated and will use up to 8 of the previous rounds played in the calculation.

SCOREKEEPING

Players should keep track of their score throughout their round in either digital format (18 birdies, GHIN APP, etc) or physical copies and be given to the commissioner/statistician at the end of each round.

In the event that a hole or match is conceded prior to hole or match conclusion, it is expected that the competitors still make full effort to finish holes to the best of their ability and record scores to be used in league handicap system. (NO SANDBAGGING PLZ)

PRE-PLAY

It is preferred that each player play during league night to maximize competitiveness, socialization, and fairness. If players cannot join for the regular league night they can alternatively play on their own anytime in the preceding week. It is preferred that during these preplay rounds that the player play with at least 1 other player from the league to maintain league integrity.

MISSED WEEKS

If a player does not complete their match due to missing both the league night and not completing a pre-play round, it will be deemed a forfeit and that player will not be able to receive any points for that week. The opponent of the forfeiting player will be able to earn a point by shooting at or below their league average handicap via stroke play.

END OF SEASON WINNERS

At the end of 8 matches, the 4 divisional winners will be awarded the division winner payouts (see league prizes below) and be eligible to compete in the week 9 championship round. The week 9 championship round will comprise of a 4 person round robin match play format.

The rules of the round robin match play will be the same as the weekly head to head match play, but instead of playing against 1 player, the players will compete against all 3 other players simultaneously with each player earning a maximum of 3 points on every hole.
